Does it work with iPhone and Android?
Yes, one at a time. TRACE TAG works with Apple Find My on iPhone, iPad and Mac, or with Google Find Hub on Android 9 and later. It pairs with one network at a time, not both. To switch, factory reset it (five clicks, then hold for 5 seconds) and pair it again.
How do I set it up?
Press the button once to turn it on. You'll hear two beeps. On iPhone, open the Find My app, go to the Items tab, tap + and choose Add Other Item. On Android, hold TRACE TAG near your unlocked phone with Bluetooth on and confirm the Fast Pair prompt.
How do I find my stuff?
Open the Find My or Find Hub app to see it on a map or play a sound. You can also turn on Lost Mode so someone who finds it knows how to reach you. On iPhone, you'll get a separation alert if you leave it behind.
What kind of battery does it use, and how long does it last?
A standard CR2032 coin cell, included in the box. It isn't rechargeable; it's replaceable. Expect about 8 months of standard use. To swap it, press and twist the back panel to open, drop in a new battery with + and - matched, twist to lock, then press the button. One beep means you're good; no beep means it needs a new battery.
Is the battery safe around kids?
The battery compartment is child-resistant and the packaging carries a coin cell safety warning. Keep new and used coin cells out of reach of children. If one is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Recycle used batteries according to local rules, never in household trash.
Can it be used to locate a person?
No. TRACE TAG is for finding your own things. If it's away from its paired phone for more than 72 hours and gets moved, it plays a sound so anyone nearby knows it's there.
What's it made of?
The body is safer plastic with no PFAS, no BPA and no PVC. The packaging is 100% plastic-free, with an FSC / SFI certified paperboard sleeve and kraft paper tray.
